Built in 1904, originally as a U.S. post office, the Springer Cultural Center, after extensive remodeling and upgrades to the interior, has evolved as one of Champaign Park District’s main facilities. Located in the center of downtown Champaign, the Springer Cultural Center offers cultural, recreational and educational programs for CU residents of all ages. While being an educational venue for the Champaign Park District, it also provides the perfect atmosphere for art exhibits, parties, conferences, luncheons, lectures and performances. Springer is highlighted by its Arts Exhibition Series (new exhibits rotate every month) that brings to light local CU artists and their array of mediums. They utilize the hallways of the old post office to present the local artistry, complimented with:
- Excellent lighting
- Nice use of white space to accentuate artistic pieces
- Calm ambiance
