Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961) grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, and was listed in his high school yearbook as heading to the University of Illinois after graduation. Instead, Hemingway obtained a junior position at the Kansas City Star, beginning a writing career that would result in more than 100 short stories, numerous novels, and both a Pulitzer Prize and a Nobel Prize. Through a collage of photographs and text, "Picturing Hemingway" depicts Hemingway's life from his beginning years in Oak Park to his final years in Ketchum, Idaho. The Rare Book & Manuscript Library is pleased to host this traveling exhibit on loan from the Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park for the month of May. Exhibition ends May 29.
