After his previous engaging collaborative appearances, we’re thrilled to welcome Richard Goode back for his first solo performance at Krannert Center. Goode’s interpretations always unleash the energy of a work in striking, surprising ways and have been described as combining grandness with humility: “the boldness of the mind, the depth of the heart.” His ability to enter and brightly illuminate the world of any composer inspired one critic to remark, “You’d swear the composer himself was at the keyboard, expressing musical thoughts that had just come into his head.” Mr. Goode serves with Mitsuko Uchida as co-artistic director of the Marlboro Music School and Festival in Marlboro, Vermont. He is married to the violinist Marcia Weinfeld, and, when they aren’t on tour, Goode and Weinfeld live with their collection of some 5,000 books in New York City. An avid fan of National Book Award winner Richard Powers, Goode will engage in a public conversation with the U of I novelist during his visit to Champaign-Urbana.
