After a nearly 50-year hiatus brought on by the advent of World War II, the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra has risen like the mythical phoenix under the direction of its dynamic conductor, Derek Gleeson, and is being welcomed in concert halls across the country this season on its inaugural US tour.

Gleeson, a native Dubliner, embodies the indomitable Irish spirit and has put the DPO on a fast track to international acclaim, pulling together the finest musicians in Ireland and creating programs that stir audiences wherever they perform.

On its maiden voyage to the States, the orchestra will perform two 19th-century masterworks. Fellow Dubliner Conor Linehan—the exciting young pianist who plays with “remarkable élan” (Ireland’s Sunday Tribune—will be the featured soloist in Beethoven’s turbulent Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 37. The program also features Brahms’ lyrical and jubilant Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 73.
