Exploding with rhythms, colors, and emotions, the music and dance of Ballet Flamenco José Porcel exude sensuality and joy. While its origins are still uncertain, flamenco singing and dancing were probably born in Spain’s Andalucia region around the 15th century, during the Gypsies’ encounters with southern Spaniards. José Porcel, born in Seville, began dancing Andalucian folkloric dances and flamenco in cultural centers in Valencia at the age of 13. Still peaking in his meteoric career, including international tours as a soloist with the Compañia Española de Antonio Márquez, Porcel has created a company with irresistible erotic appeal and irrepressible energy.
