University of Illinois Jazz Faculty with Lisanne Lyons, Jim Pugh, and Chip McNeill Jazz Concertos with Full Symphony Orchestra Join us for exciting jazz concertos including Nightbird by Michel Colombier, a tour de force for both saxophone soloist Chip McNeill and the orchestra, which was written in 1981 for Ernie Watts. Trombonist Jim Pugh joins the ensemble for a concerto by Nathaniel Shilkret that was originally written for Tommy Dorsey in 1942 and the evening will be rounded out with other jazz works and arrangements by McNeill and Pugh for full symphony including vocal numbers performed by Lisanne Lyons.
