We are the premiere sketch comedy troupe at the University of Illinois, and our one and only goal is to make you laugh. How, you ask? What's sketch comedy you wonder out loud (to your drunk roommate at four in the morning with a paper due at nine)? Well, I'll tell you...

Sketch comedy is scripted humor written in the form of skits (AKA sketches) lasting anywhere from ten seconds to ten minutes. In a typical show we perform a dozen or so sketches, and the show itself runs about an hour to an hour and a half. You have most likely seen sketch comedy before; Saturday Night Live, MadTV, Second City, Kids in the Hall, Monty Python, Mr. Show, and Upright Citizens Brigade are all prime examples. What makes sketch comedy so great is that it combines the elements of legitimate theater (staying true to character, developing a scene, utilizing lights and sound as tools beyond just words) with straight out comedy (absurdity, outlandishness, other big words to mean recklessly hilarious).

Our sketches take on a variety of formats from sophisticated to perverted, witty to silly, edgy socio-political commentary to edgy sexually-frustrated crudeness. We try to strike a good balance of high brow, intelligent humor and low brow, crude humor; priding ourselves on our "medium brow" comedy. We swear and take on sex, drugs, and alcohol, but we also tackle politics and pop culture with a grasping wit. One time people got naked. Occasionally we'll throw a video in the mix.

We write, perform, direct, produce, and promote at least three completely original shows every semester. And you should come! It's a cheap date at only $3 a ticket (sold at the door).
