An indie rock band from New York, Vampire Weekend acquired a steady following early on in their career as musicians who formed in 2006. Before their debut album, Vampire Weekend, was released in January 2008, the band appeared on the cover of Spin magazine, had their single, "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa," reach Rolling Stone Magazine charts and toured the UK with The Shins.
The band consists of members Ezra Koenig (lead vocals, guitar), Rostam Batmanglij (keyboard, guitar, vocals), Chris Tomson (drums) and Chris Baio (bass guitar). The four claim influences from Afro-pop music and Western classical music alienating themselves from the norm and sticking to a clean-cut sound of their own.
In the spring-summer of 2008, the band went on tour internationally hitting festivals across Europe, North America (including Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago), Australia and Japan.
