Tilly and the Wall
A five-piece set originated out of Nebraska, Tilly and the Wall constructed their first album, Wild Like Children, in 2004 with the help of Conor Oberst. Not only are they signed to Oberst’s label, Team Love, but percussionist, Jamie Pressnall, and singer, Neely Jenkins, had previously been in a band with Oberst before he was known as Bright Eyes.
After the release of Wild Like Children, Tilly and the Wall went on tours with Of Montreal, Rilo Kiley, The Go! Team, and Bright Eyes. Once the tours ended, the band returned home to record their second album, Bottoms of Barrels, which was released in 2006.
Bottoms of Barrels took the band to greater heights, landing them with slots in music festivals like Cochella and the Reeding/Leads Festival, and joining Jenny Lewis in support of her album, Rabbit Fur Coat, with the Watson Twins. Tilly and the Wall also went on tour worldwide, traveling through Europe, Australia and in Japan where they were slotted for Japan’s Summer Sonic music Festival.
Again, the band returned home to Nebraska in 2007 to create the album, o, which was released in June of 2008 with hits, “Pot Kettle Black” and “Cacophony.” The single “Beat Control,” which was released in February of 2008, was not featured on o.
