The Thermals are an indie punk rock band formed in 2002. They rose from the indie scene in Portland, Oregon and is under Sub Pop Records. The band is composed primarily of Hutch Harris on vocals and guitar and Kathy Foster on bass. Throughout the years, the band has gone through several drummers (the current being Westin Glass). They've been described as a by-product of basement of shanky basement shows. Their pop,post-punk sound is fun and their lyrics are short and to the point with some cheap wit. They have released three studio albums under Sub Pop. The band has also opened for Modest Mouse, Sleater Kinney and Death Cab For Cutie as well as headlining their own shows. Recently they declined a $50,000 offer to play their song in a GM motor commercial and got positive feedback about the declining the offer. After a length of touring and an amicable split with Sub Pop, The Thermals signed with Kill Rock Stars and released their newest LP Now We Can See in 2009.
