Albuquerque based pop group The Shins have been together since 1997. Their popularity picked up in 2001 with the release of their album "Oh Inverted World" and the single "New Slang," famously featured in the 2004 movie "Garden State" when Natalie Portman's character claims it will, "change your life." The band followed up with "Chutes to Narrow" in 2003 and "Wincing the Night Away," in 2007 which debuted at number two.
