Composed of Chrissie Hynde on vocals/guitar, James Honeyman-Scott on guitar/vocals/keyboards, Pete Farndon on bass guitar/vocals, and Martin Chambers on drums/vocals/percussion, The Pretenders have been making music since 1978. With a sound that can be described as only rock, the group has been named to the list of most influential artists in rock by both VH1 and The Rolling Stone. Though riddled by drug and relationship problems leading to the untimely deaths of two members, The Pretenders reached formidable success based on albums "Pretenders" and "Leaning To Crawl." The group went through several small hiatuses in the 1980's and 1990's, touring in 1999 as part of the female-empowerment Lilith Fair. In 2005 the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
