The Hold Steady are a rock band based in Brooklyn who formed in 2004 when they released their first album, Almost Killed Me, on French Kiss Records and Separation Sunday the next year, both receiving critical acclaim but only influencing more underground audiences. This changed when they left their old label and went on to sign with Vagrant Records, releasing their third album "Boys And Girls In America" in 2006. This album was met with much critical acclaim, landing them #8 on the Rolling Stones top albums of 2006 and number three on The A.V. club's list. Since, the band have been featured in various parts of the entertainment industry, such as video games and various movie soundtracks.
