    The Black Keys are a blues rock duo consisting of Daniel Auerbach (vocals/guitar) and Patrick Carney (drums). Formed in Akron, Ohio, they released their first album, "The Big Come Up," in 2002 and have had three additional studio releases, the latest being "Magic Potion," which was released in 2006. They have frequently been compared to the White Stripes for their similar two person Lo-fi sounds and their almost concurrent success, the White Stripes having their first significant success only a short time before them in 2001. There low fidelity recording techniques (using tape recorders and analog effects) and their tendency to record, mix, and produce their material themselves has given them their own characteristic sound.
