The 1900s are a psychedelic pop band out of Chicago. Since 2006 they have been wowing the Chicago indie scene with their orchestral pop sound. The big-band styled group infuses guy-girl vocal melodies, violin, '60s influenced guitar riffs, and strong piano lines and more to produce an intricate folksy, twee, rock pop sound all their own.The group is made up of Edward Anderson (sings & guitar), Charlie Ransford (bass), Jeanine O'Toole(sings & tambourine), Caroline Donovan( sings & keys), and Andra Kulans (violin & keys).
The members' relationships are a mix of childhood and new friendships, and 'Fleetwood Mac style' relationships. They produced their first e.p. Plume Delivery before ever playing a show. Once they did perform live, Champaign-Urbana's own Parasol Records discovered them at their first show and went about signing them based on that first performance. Their first LP, Cold and Kind, surprised even their fan based with its impressive musicality. The 1900s have toured with Iron & Wine and Midlake, and have performed at South by Southwest music festival. The 1900s were also in the 2007 Lollapalooza lineup.
