Tears for Fears formed in the early '80s as a synth-pop band comprised of Roland Orzabel and Curt Smith. The group was prone to tacking on big subjects with their songs. Their 1985 release, "Songs From the Big Chair," spawned singles, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," and "Shout," making it a big hit and establishing them as mainstays on MTV. The bands popularity faded with the end of the '80s, with modest hits along the way. Although Smith left the group in 1992, they reformed in 2004 as a due and released, "Everybody Loves a Happy Ending."
