From Austin, Texas is Rhett Miller born with name Stewart Ransom Miller II. He is an accomplished independent singer songwriter. His music is a rock Americana/alternative country sound. Miller has released three different albums with three different record labels. His second album though in particular in 2002 called the "The Instigator" achieved critical acclaim and was the first time Rhett Miller was recognized as a solo act. His band the Old 97s formed back in 1993 named after a Johnny Cash song. Rhett Miller than toured with Niel Finn in 2004 and was introduced to a bigger audience. Miller has covered a lot of older classic songs that have featured on commercials for example MasterCard and episodes on Joan of Arcadia. He has been successful ever since and found recognition in Alternative country rock.
