Queens of the Stone Age are Californian rock band that formed in 1997. Originally known as Gamma Ray, Queens of the Stone Age was formed by guitarist/vocalist Josh Homme. He is backed by a rotating cast of characters. The current lineup is: guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, drummer Joey Castillo, bassist and backup vocalist Michael Shuman and keyboardist Dean Fertita. Musicians like Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters and Mark Lanegan have also contributed to Queens of the Stone Age albums or live performances. Queens of the Stone Age have released 6 studio albums, starting with their eponymous debut album and straight through to their 2007 release Era Vulgaris. They affectionately refer to the tour supporting this album as the "Duluth Tour" after the fact that they are touring to many cities they haven't performed in before.
