Primus is bassist/lead singer Les Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander. Formed in California in the mid 1980s, Primus' catchphrase was "Primus Sucks!" for a long period of time. This catchphrase speaks to the humorous and quirky nature of Claypool and the band in general. Primus is often known as a band that is hard to define by genre. Claypool himself has described them with the odd tag, "psychedelic polka." In fact, Primus is the only band with its own specific tag for the music player Winamp. Primus has released 6 studio albums since Frizzle Fry was released in 1990. A new studio effort is anticipated for late 2007 or early 2008.
