Noah and the Whale is a folk rock band from London, England. The group formed in 2006, and released their debut album (Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down) in 2008. Their hit single, 5 Years Time (Sun, Sun, Sun), peaked at number 7 on the UK Top Singles Chart. Many Americans with an ear for music recognize their single because it was featured on a Saturn car commercial for the Outlook SUV. The band is a 4 piece comprised of Charlie Fink (vocals, guitar), Doug Fink (drums), Tom Hobden (fiddle), and Matt Urby (bass). Some songs, such as 'Shape of My Heart' also feature a chorus of horns. The group used to include female vocalists Laura Marling and Emmy the Great, who have since moved onto solo work, however Laura splits her time between N&TW and her solo work, (she was featured in the single 5 Years Time). The band's sound is a mix of folk, twee, indie rock and orchestral pop and is comparable to artists like The Little Ones and Sufjan Stevens.
