New Order was formed by members of British post-punk band Joy Division after singer Ian Curtis tragically hung himself in 1980. The rest of the band regrouped, with the addition of a keyboardist, as New Order in 1981. Their 1983 breakthrough hit, "Blue Monday," became the best selling 12" release of all time. They released several albums throughout the ‘80's, continually honing their sound. After some big early ‘90's success, the band went on an extended hiatus until finally reconvening in the early ‘00's with some line up changes, and releasing 2005's, "Waiting for the Sirens' Call."
