Jonathon Childers' sound (pronounced JON-A-THON, like a MAR-A-THON) has been described as folky and fierce, raspy and raw, and acoustic and determined. Childers has been playing live music since he picked up a guitar in high school when he fronted grunge and rock influenced bands Mönster Puke and The Dead Brothers. His first foray into song writing came when he, bassist Evan Michel and backup guitarist Mike Brendel formed the band Store in a Cool Place, deciding to write and record an album instead of appearing in their school's product of Godspell. The band released their one and only album "The Hatchet and the Bottle" to a sold out crowd at Byron, Illinois' venue, the Cultural Center on March 24th, 2006. The show was documented in the recording "Store in a Cool Place: LIVE! at the Cultural Center." The band disbanded after leaving for school, where Childers continued to hone his song writing craft and his singing ability, performing a part time gig at Potbelly's Subs on Green Street in Champaign, IL. Childers has since branched out and performs throughout town and is looking to release his debut EP, "My Name is Jon-a-thon and I Wrote These Songs" in the coming months.

Sounds Like: Neil Diamond and Abraham Lincoln had a baby and put it up for adoption.
