The James Taylor Quartet, often called JTQ, are a British jazz-funk band that formed in 1985. Formed by James Taylor, not the American singer/songwriter but the British Hammond organ player, they have released around a dozen albums to this day and continue to record and tour today. JTQ played a huge part of the "acid jazz" movement in the early '90s. They are known for their exciting live show that uses a large number of guest musicians and singers to create a huge sound that they have always had trouble translating to their albums. They have also released three albums under the name the New Jersey Kings and have recorded these albums live to try and recreate their live sound.
