    J Church was a powerpop punk band from San Francisco, California. They formed in 1992 with lead man Lance Hahn and consistent band mate Gardner Maxam. The drummer was unfortunately always changing along with the rest of the band but Lance and Gardner stayed together most of the time. The band was named after the street car line Lance would take to band practice and to work everyday. Lance Hahn was a punk rock history writer for several different publications. The band has impressively released several albums within 12 years of playing together. It almost averages out to 10 albums per year. The band decided not to continue in 1999 because of Lance Hahn's heart problems. And in 2007 Lance died from kidney dialysis complications.
