    Hum is a space rock band from Champaign/Urbana, Illinois, formed in 1989 by Andy Switzky, Matt Talbott, and Akis Boyatzis. The band released Electra 2000 in 1993 which caught the eye of RCA who signed them and put out You’d Prefer an Astronaut in 1995. The single “Stars,” off of You’d Prefer an Astronaut, became a mainstream hit and gained the band air time on several different shows, including Bevis and Butthead, which was very popular at the time. Their follow up, Downward Is Heaven, failed to sell well, and in 2000, two years after its release the band went on hiatus and has not had any activity since.
