Considered one of this generation's Renaissance Men, Herb Alpert has done everything imaginable in the music industry. He is more famously known for his band Herb Alpert and the Tijuanna Brass. They made jazz/Latino funk music which put Latino music in the limelight for the first time in America. At one point they had out sold the Beatles in record sales. As an excellent trumpet player he was able accomplish winning about 8 Grammy awards, making 5 number one hits and 14 platinum albums. He has been such a success throughout his career what more could he have done? Well, then Herb Alpert started a recording label called A&M Records, he's the A in A&M. He picked up this, used to be garage label, up off the ground and turned it into the largest independently owned record label harboring artists like Janet Jackson and Cat Stevens. He is an artistic genius along with music's most innovative musician and successful entrepreneur.
