Portland, Oregon's Everclear became popular in the mid 90's, a time ripe for their punk/pop chord progressions and catchy choruses. Singer Art Alexakis' lyrics often deal with family issues, bad girlfriends and growing up in an us against them style that makes their messages highly relatable to audiences. Their hugely popular 1997 album, "So Much for the Afterglow," spawned modern rock hits "Everything to Everyone," "I Will Buy You a New Life," and "Father of Mine," songs that can still get everyone under 30 singing along to. The band continued to write big hits through the decade, and although their radio viability has since waned, Everclear continues to tour for crowds of adoring fans.
