DJ Substr8 is a member of the local underground electronic music collective known as the 217 Mafia. After picking up his decks about five years ago, Substr8 has explored several different styles of music, but his primary focus is currently dubstep. Characterized by loads of sub-friendly bass, dubstep is a fusion of several different styles of electronic and analog music. The robust nature of dubstep includes, but is not limited to, elements of reggae, hip hop, drum and bass, techno, house, as well as world music. DJ Substr8 can be seen at variety of venues in the area including Cowboy Monkey, Boltini Lounge and The Highdive.
