In 1983, Dinosaur Jr. took the indie rock world by storm by returning to a more guitar driven sound. Fueled by the unmistakable guitar and songwriting of J Mascis, Dinosaur Jr. brought rock back to a place where it hadn't been in quite some time. Joined by bassist Lou Barlow and drummer Murph, Dinosaur Jr. (affectionately known as Dino Jr.) were heavily influential in the rising of the grunge scene in the 1990s. Influencing bands like Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr. was brought to the foreground of listener's ears after the increased popularity of alternative rock. Although J Mascis maintained the Dinosaur Jr. name on veritable solo projects until1997, 1988's Bug was the last album to include all three original members. Mascis released four albums on Blanco y Negro Records under the name Dinosaur Jr. To the joy of many hardcore Dino Jr. fans, the original lineup reunited in 2005. In 2007, Dinosaur Jr. released Beyond on Fat Possum Records. In addition, they helped organize the All Tomorrow's Parties Festival in 2006. They continue to tour in support of their latest album.
