    Desafinado plays a combination of Samba, Bossa Nova, and popular Brazilian (“MPB”) music. Drawing on these Brazilian roots, the band strives to move the music into more unusual territory with original songwriting and arrangements. The six piece ensemble features Elis Artz, Chad Dunn, Giraldo Rosales, Connie Johnson, Tom Paynter, and Greg Jahiel on guitar. They have released two albums, 2005's "Desafinado" and 2006's "Conhecimento" (2006).

    Desafinado is a staple at local venues such as The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts and Cowboy Monkey. This ensemble has had a strong presence in the CU jazz community for many years.
