    CSS, an acronym for Cansei de Ser Sexy or literally “I got tired of being sexy,” is a Brazilian band from São Paulo that formed in 2003. CSS say the name came from a quote from Beyonce who had been an influence at the time the band got one of their first gigs, and had to decide on a name.
    In 2005, CSS signed with the label Trama Virtual which had previously done promotions for the band on its website (Trama Virtual is comparable to MySpace). They went on tour later that year and soon released two music videos for songs, “Off the Hook” and “Alala.”
    In Brazil, CSS sold 5,000 copies within the next few years, but once CSS signed with Sub Pop and toured internationally, CSS sold over 60,000 copies. Their song, “Music is My Hot Hot Sex” began to be used commercially eventually hitting the US Billboard Hot 100.
