Coldplay emerged in the late '90s as a band that was almost certain to take over the world with their music. Their 2000 hit "Yellow" was extremely popular. The song was backed by a remarkably solid album, Parachutes, which has received numerous awards and critical acclaim. Coldplay's second release, "A Rush Of Blood To the Head," brought the band to even greater success. Singles such as "Clocks" and "The Scientist" could be heard on almost any popular radio station in over a dozen countries. Chris Martin, the band's principal songwriter, is very active in humanitarianism and bringing focus to world issues. Coldplay is likely to release its fourth album in 2008.
