    CAKE has been a prominent force in alternative rock since their formation in 1991. The band could also be classified as experimental, combining elements from funk, country, ska, jazz and rap. What sets Cake apart from other alternative rock bands is the laconic, ironic way in which the front-man John McCrea sings the lyrics. McCrea also plays acoustic guitar, organ and the vibraslap. In addition to McCrea, Cake's line-up includes Vince DiFiore on trumpet, keyboard and percussion, Xan McCurdy on electric guitar, Gabe Nelson on bass guitar and Paulo Baldi on drums and percussion. CAKE is currently signed to Upbeat Records.
