    Butterfly Assassins have spent the past two years creating their brand of epic, classically-tinged, indie rock. Their 2008 full-length debut, released on Old Flame Records, is filled with driving beats, haunting piano melodies, blistering guitars, soaring cellos and an indefinable reverence toward a turn-of-the-century Russian girl named Sylvia. The disc was mixed by Grammy-award-winning producer Ed Stassium (The Ramones, Talking Heads, Gladys Knight, Nada Surf), who has described the music as "some of the best stuff he's worked on in a long time."
