Bright Eye's Conor Oberst has been on the indie music scene since ’94 when he was only 14. Until recently, Oberst was the only official member of Bright Eyes, but recently the band fleshed out its lineup. Oberst is not only a prolific songwriter who has penned the songs for several Bright Eyes releases, but he also formed influential indie rock label Saddle Creek with his first band Commander Venus. Where older Bright Eyes releases often featured only Oberst's thoughtful lyrics, his guitar and his wavering voice, subsequent albums have brought more and more instrumentation. The band's 2007 release Cassadaga is the most filled out yet, often featuring big western and country rock arrangements.
