Blind Melon is an alternative rock band which formed in 1991 when they signed to Capitol Records. They released their first album in 1992 which was self titled and gained considerable buzz when the front man, Shannon Hoon, had ties to Axl Rose and did backup vocals for several Guns N' Roses tracks. They opened for several famous bands, including Lenny Kravitz, Soundgarden, and The Rolling Stones and released three albums, the second of which, Soup, being the last for frontman Hoon who died of a Cocain overdose during the album's supporting tour in 1995, the band subsequently releasing Nico in 1996. In 2006 the band reformed with a new frontman, Travis Warren, and are working on a new album which will be released sometime in 2007.
