Ben Folds
Ben Folds originally got his start in the music profession playing bass with the band Majosha in the late '80s. During that time, he also worked as a session drummer in Nashville. In the early 90s, Folds moved to New York to pursue a short-lived acting career. Eventually moving back to North Carolina (where he was born), he started Ben Folds Five in 1994 with Robert Sledge and Darren Jessee. The trio released their self-titled debut album in 1995 on Passenger Records. Whatever and Ever Amen followed in 1997 and was regarded (and still is) as one of the best releases of the year. Their single "Brick" garnered the band national notice, as did touring with the likes of Dave Matthews and Beck. Ben Folds released his first solo album in 1998, and Ben Folds Five released their last album in 1999 before Folds went the solo route. Since, he has released 3 full length albums and 3 EPs. His latest being Live in Perth released in 2005.
