Badly Drawn Boy, born Damon Gough, is an English musician who was vaulted into the musical spotlight in 2000 when his album The Hour of the Bewilderbeast won the British Mercury Prize for best album. Gough went on to earn further esteem when he was asked by author Nick Hornby to score the film About a Boy, which stared Hugh Grant. Badly Drawn Boy has claimed that his creative style of pop is greatly influenced by American songwriter Bruce Springsteen and made homage to Springsteen's ‘Born in the U.S.A.' with his 2006 release ‘Born in the UK.'
