Formed in Athens, Georgia in 1976, The B-52s play a style of New Wave that is definable as all their own. Composed of Fred Schneider, Kate Pierson, Cindy Wilson and Keith Strickland, the group is known for contrasting male/female vocals and quirky songs. With hits such as "Rock Lobster," "Love Shack" and "Roam," the group fell apart after the 1985 death of member Ricky Wilson. After a two year hiatus to recover, The B-52s released their most recognized album in 1989 with "Cosmic Thing." Following the success of its singles, the band began to separate, working on separate projects. By 2006, however, The B-52s were reunited once again, touring and working a new album to be released sometime in the near future.
