From the depths of a spraycan and live on a concrete surface comes Agent Mos, otherwise known as AMS. The man dubbed as "King of the Nerds" at 14 years old came up as a confused mass of musical influences, making his brand of hip-hop into a breakbeat beat-down, filled to the brim with wit, stinging punchlines, a eye for the detail of life, and a brain built for storytelling.
Following hip-hop as a hobby earned him a slew of features on mixtapes, guest shots, and the occasional show in high school. Pursuing it as a part-time dream earned him opportunities opening for some of his favorite acts, after only having been on stage for 2 years (Mr. Lif, Blueprint, Illogic, Braille, KRS-One, Treologic, Animate Objects just to name a few), and allowed him to garner the applause of the public as the WPGU/Buzz Local Music Award Winner for Best Hip-Hop in 2006.
His work with local musicians (Larry Gates of Lorenzo Goetz, Kayla Brown, DJ Spinnerty, Zirafa) has earned him acclaim not only where he found himself for college, but an odd and spreading following at home and around the world, after having his material played on college radio in France, Britain and Japan.
His first album "ILLuminate" was released independently, but his next album, "Natural", will be released under the banner of California-based Bay Area Label OM Hip-Hop, home of such acts as Zion I, The Grouch, Eligh and Colossus. The label has already released AMS and DJ Spinnerty's song "City Life" on the "OM Hip-Hop Discovery, Vol. 1" compilation, which is available on iTunes (search for DJ Spinnerty and Agent Mos...for you digital music heads..), and he will be featured on Colossus' next album to be released sometime this year on OM Hip-Hop.
