Warm weather is finally hitting the Champaign-Urbana area. With Mom’s Weekend just around the corner, it seems like a good time to begin looking for new spring trends. Fashion Focus CU is the just the arena to do that with your mommy.
While perusing the event’s booths after the runway show, head towards the General Eccentric booth for gold jewelry, colorful dresses and neon-colored separates.
“I’m excited to get our styles out there,” said store manager Whitney Sinclair. “We have a lot of unique styles that aren’t just in a mall anywhere.”
General Eccentric will also be presenting their unique fashion sense on the runway that afternoon.
True Religion, Juicy Couture and Michael Stars are just some of the designers housed in the ultra-sophisticated Bella Mia Boutique. If you are looking for something trendy or for a long-term investment, keep your eye on pieces from Bella Mia during the show and be sure to check out their booth afterwards.
Downtown Champaign boutique, Circles, which features designers like Betsey Johnson, Eileen Fisher and Free People, will also be displaying some of their upscale items on Saturday.
Need a pair of designer jeans without the piggy-bank-breaking price? Plato’s Closet will be showing off some of their super trendy, inexpensive looks at the event as well. Their clothing is the perfect solution for a clothing rack scavenger on a student budget.
Accessories are important in completing any look, and Ten Thousand Villages is just the place for unique, fair-trade goodies. Fashion Focus will mostly display earrings, necklaces, scarves and handbags from the store’s most recent shipment.
“There are greens, light blues — spring green, really,” said Reba King, manager of Ten Thousand Villages, about the colors expected at the show.
Additionally, warmer tones such as yellows and oranges will be featured and even some jewelry made of bone. Plus, the items will be labeled by their country of origin, so shoppers will know the history behind what they are purchasing.
Whether you’re looking to spend a bundle on designer clothing or buy some cute cheap items, check out Fashion Focus. Either way, you can always get you mom to foot the bill.
