What use is iPod video without your movies?

Last time on the Digital Domain, I discussed making copies of your DVD media to serve as a back-up and create a high-quality digital video library on your computer. This doesn’t do much good if you can’t find a way to take these files with you. That’s where one of my favorite pieces of software comes in.
The Videora iPod Converter is now in its fourth iteration, with frequent updates to tweak and improve the program. As the software’s title implies, Videora converts almost any digital video format into the iPod friendly MPEG-4. The Videora website cites unique converter programs for the iPod classic, the video nano, the touch (both generations), the original iPod video and the original and 3G iPhones.
The program is incredibly simple and intuitive, walking the user through a simple five-step process to converting the file to iPod format. Simply selecting the original file, choosing where to save the newly converted file, and sliding some bars to tweak sound, image, and size quality is enough to begin the burning process. Lower qualities and sizes lead to smaller files and shorter convert times, and larger, higher quality conversions require more time and result in a much larger file. Finally, what is potentially Videora’s most attractive feature is its Youtube downloader application, which takes videos from the site and converts them into MPEG-4, allowing you to bring your favorite clips with you wherever you go.
