• Welcome back! Now get involved.

Welcome back to school students. While there are many activities going on around campus this week, be sure to consider a number of LGBT events going on and ways to stay connected to the LGBT community. Many thanks to Leslie Morrow for her consistent information from the Inqueeri, an online newsletter put out by the LGBT Resource Center. All credit goes to her for the information.

Here are some suggestions of some groups and events to look into if you haven’t already:

Rainbow Lemonade Stand — Tuesdays 6 to 9 p.m. at the LGBT Resource Center

Amasong Lesbian/Feminist Chorus Auditions - Auditions will be held in late August. Check the website for updates or email office@amasong.org for more information.

The Equality Ride - Sponsored by Soulforce, an LGBT non-profit organzitaion, the Equality Ride is a traveling forum that visits various colleges around the nation in order to promote equality and educate students on LGBT issues. Applications to join the Equality ride are due September 20, 2009.

Ladies Loving Ladies - a community group for lesbians and bisexual women.

MPowerment - A community group for gay and bisexual men

oSTEM - An organizations for those out in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. The organization has a chapter in CU.

The Coming Out BBQ — 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, August 28 at the Illini Grove, only a short walk from Allen Hall.

Be sure to check Facebook to follow the LGBT Resource Center and a number of Student Affairs offices as they move to keep students better informed.
