Digital Domain favorite Lifehacker recently polled its reader base to find the best video-sharing websites. Ranked among the simplest and best was of course the first name in video sharing, YouTube.
Also on the list are Viddler (which doesn’t hold the 10-minute limit of the more popular YouTube service, instead imposing a 500MB limit), and DailyMotion encourages user submissions up to a gigabyte in size and uploading HD content.
These sites illustrate a growing trend toward a stronger internet-focused experience. There are many friends of mine who will close their laptops if they can’t get a wireless signal.
Now that music and videos can be shared on YouTube, photos on Flickr or facebook, and writings on a blog, the computer and online experience are becoming more and more tightly interwoven. It may not be long before which browser you use becomes more important than which operating system your system runs.
