Snag some seasonal coffee favorites

Nov. 05, 2009 - by Kristen Ellis – buzz Writer

Every year between Halloween and Thanksgiving, there seems to be an insurgence of everything autumnal and spiced that companies think they can possibly pitch to the public. I don’t blame them. Autumn is my favorite season. Really, the other three seasons aren’t even comparable to the Indian summer, smell of bonfires, changing leaves, apple- and pumpkin-picking, adorable children trick-or-treating and excuse to buy an excessive number of scarves.

From candles to decorations to candy, people are getting the most they can out of the end of the fall season. And in case you were unaware, this can apply to your coffee-related purchases as well. Many local coffee houses provide options for consumers to experience their coffee in a seasonal and deliciously fresh way. A few tasty examples follow below.

First on the list is Starbucks, the only place that offers “Cinnamon Dolce” syrup. Yum! The spicy-sweet combination tastes especially good in lattes. Next, Caffe Paradiso’s customers can get their autumnal caffeine fix with a “Mayan Mocha,” which is made from a secret recipe that I am not at liberty to divulge. Who knows what the Mayan Empire has to do with it, but who cares? It sounds exotic and enticing, and it’s delectability is not only nepenthean but has also been known to produce some nearly mind-numbing effects strong enough to make its drinker forget the whole “Mayan” thing altogether.

Caribou Coffee provides us with another option for the seasonal mocha: the “Campfire Mocha.” Enjoy this sweet but traditional mocha that comes with mini marshmallows and some other secret ingredients. Last but not least, stop by Espresso Royale for a Hazelnut Chai Tea Latte. Add a shot or two of espresso if you need (or like) the caffeine, and to balance the sweet flavor, if desired. Celebrate the season before these drinks are no longer available!
