• RUNWAY presents the Pure Euphoria Fashion Show

Watch out Tyra – yours isn’t the only show with top models.

RUNWAY, a UIUC registered student organization, presents the Pure Euphoria fashion show on Saturday, April 4 at Krannert Art Museum. The show features the collections of Lara Miller, Tatyana Merenyuk, Tel Aviv Couture, Tonya Gross, Julie Adams and Annie Ku. Doors open at 7 p.m. and there will be no admittance after 7:30 p.m. Dress is formal.

RUNWAY’s mission is to present fashion as a dynamic art form at UIUC. The club focuses on showing the aesthetics, innovation and intelligence that make fashion one of the most creative and dynamic mediums of artistic expression. The club presents two fashion shows a year that raise money for charitable organizations.

RUNWAY members Pooja Desai and Aramide Odusanya organized Pure Euphoria. Donations will support the Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club.

“There's so much that goes into a show like ours that you wouldn’t even think about,” Desai says. “There's the styling, putting together all the looks/order of the looks, putting together the hair and makeup looks, music, lighting, photography et cetera.”

Casting calls for the show were held in February and 29 models were chosen. A casting director has been working with the models weekly since February, helping them perfect their walks and ensuring that they know the path of the runway. Final fittings took place this week.

“We try to have everything as planned out as possible, but backstage chaos is inevitable … and truthfully, part of the fun,” Desai says.

Following the show, guests are invited to enjoy “Art After Hours,” an opportunity to enjoy music and hors d’oeuvres while perusing the art exhibits. Local musician Lynn O'Brien will perform with bassist Karl Kieser at 8:15 pm.
