If challenging others to a snowball fight, making snow angels and perfecting the ultimate snow fort haven’t already released your inner child — or even if they have for that matter — why not check out an art museum targeted at your younger self this weekend?
A visit to the Orpheum Children’s Art Museum allows for a day of carefree play and may even bring you back to the days that were governed by curious imagination. The museum has both indoor and outdoor exhibits, but unfortunately the outdoor exhibit will not reopen until the spring. Indoor exhibits included an interactive display of waterworks where visitors can measure sand and learn about ground pollution. What I found the most fun was the display on biology. The museum has an assortment of kid-approved pets including turtles, spiders, lizards and bugs. The outdoor exhibits also looked promising with the inclusion of a “Dino-dig.” Visitors can put on safety goggles and use digging tools to unearth fossils of extinct dinosaurs. Definitely an activity worth a return visit in the spring! The museum is open from 1 to 5 p.m. on the weekends, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week (except for Mondays when it’s closed). So, go on, be a kid!
