With gas prices skyrocketing over the past two months, it seems that the cost of fuel is one of the main subjects on everyone’s mind this summer. Although you often hear people talking about high costs on the news and in the paper, we decided to find out how it was affecting people locally. Here’s what the community had to say:

“Carpooling with people with kids for rides back and forth for sports.”

— Janette Hock, Champaign

“Nothing different.”

— Brian Stromley, Urbana

“I don’t leave for lunch every day. I stay at work.”

— Stephanie Cain, Champaign

“I make my dad fill up my tank!”

— Christian Rosenbeck, Champaign

“We just aren’t going to as many places. You can’t afford to.”

— Jerry Rudisill, Philo

“We don’t come to town as often. We combine our trips a lot.”

— Nene Corlas, St. Joseph

“I sold my car and bought a more fuel-efficient one.”

— Kerry Jannusch, St. Joseph

I keep trying to get my parents to fill up my tank for me... but I guess once you hit 27, have career, and a buy house, your on your own for gas.

Why not include these interviewees' ages? That seems like a very basic piece of information that would have added a lot of meaning to this piece, more so than what city they're from.
