If you can pull yourself away from your varied intellectual pursuits Monday night, you might want to let your pelvis lead the way and check out the first fetish party in Champaign since 2002.
The Lix-Alicious Fetish Party will be taking place at Chester Street Bar on July 14 and is organized by Jill Van Voorst, a.k.a. “Lix,” and IDG Productions.
The night will begin with the Armageddon Project, a two hour concert featuring Industrial Music groups UnderNull and C/A/T.
Doors will open at 8 p.m. and the music will begin at 9 p.m. Randall Krause and Justin Pogue of IDG (Industrie Du Gothique) are presenting the Armageddon Project.
IDG, which is based out of Champaign, is a full-service production company that strives to provide “an unparalleled entertainment experience for club-goers by harnessing the latest in interactive multimedia technologies,” according to their Web site, http://www.idgproductions.com. On regular Monday nights at C-Street, IDG presents Nekromancy, Illinois’ longest-running industrial electronic dance night. Next Monday will still have flashing lights and industrial music — but the music will be live with the full-scale fetish party right afterward.
“It’s two events that are separate but at the same time combined, as they are fitting,” Krause said.
The Armageddon Project costs $10, which includes a free pass to the after party.
When the fetish party begins at 11 p.m. you can expect to see belly dancers and fetish girls performing throughout the night. The Lix Skits will begin at 12:30 p.m.
“The skits will be somewhat burlesquey,” Van Voorst said. “Best described, it will be a fetish variety show.”
In addition to having the nickname “Lix,” Van Voorst owns “LIX,” her private business in which she retails men’s and women’s gothic and fetish club wear, dancewear, shoes and accessories. She also sells music.
Moreover, Chester Street Bar was the home to Van Voorst’s first fashion show back in 1998 and she is glad to be returning to host as MC (Mistress of Ceremonies) for the upcoming fetish party.
The Lix-Alicious Fetish Party will be accompanied by the best of Industrial Music with DJ Sorcerykid and Chicago’s own, DJ Noir. Admission for the fetish party alone is $5 and attendees must be at least 19-years-old.
