Made on $6,000 with an unknown cast, Following is the superb first film from Christopher Nolan (Memento, Batman Begins). The story follows Bill, an aspiring writer living a solitary life in London who develops an obsession with following strangers. He even creates set of rules to ensure his games remain safe. But when Bill breaks his rules and follows a man named Cobb multiple times, Cobb catches him and reveals that he also follows people. Following has many twists, providing as much suspense as all of Nolan’s work. As usual Nolan’s intelligent script rewards repeated viewings after you’ve seen the shocking ending. I’m not sure why this film didn’t receive as much attention as his later works but after seeing it you will be extremely excited for The Dark Knight.
